The competition for the development of the Old Port of Marseille was organized for Marseille 2013, Capital of Culture. The Marseille Provence Metropolis Urban Community (CUMPM) has planned to transform the famous Old Port as a semi-pedestrian sector, as well as to undergo an urban requalification of 990 acres of the city’s central perimeter. The project proposed to reconnect the Old Port to the rest of the city, to alleviate its space, and to both cultivate a new use, and reorganization, of the marina.
